1972 Corvette T-Top
We're starting with a relatively clean T-top small-block car with the deluxe interior, a 4-speed, and few other options. The paint is old and not pretty. The car sits too high, panel alignment is poor, and performance is barely adequate. This relatively bland car will soon be transformed into a bruiser of a cruiser.
The car with a 20x12 under the back shows just how much wider the body needs to be to cover it... a full three inches! The body also needs to sit about 4" lower than it does to get the serious performance look it needs. One of our widebody quarters is set on the car.. the "hip" is now huge...3" wider on top and a taller ridge as well, making the roof look smaller, and the car look faster.
Next time: cuts begin. After more documentation and measurements, we will begin the mods. This car will also get reworked front fenders to match, allowing for up to 11" wide wheels up there. Other custom touches will be created such as spoilers and side vents. A search is on for the right LS crate motor for the intended driving pleasures of the owner of this car. Stay tuned.
